Detailed Description

Candidate will be responsible for:
Designing/directing the layout of electrical circuits for sensing applications
Working with suppliers to realize layout into a manufacturable product
Develop robust layouts that can fit into small space envelopes required by sensing applications
Design a circuit layout that can be produced with extremely high yields on high volume production lines.
Strong knowledge of DFM (design for manufacturability) is a required, and as such candidate must not only know something about circuit layout, but also have a strong knowledge of electronic assembly methods and an understanding of materials and their interactions commonly used in electronics.

Job Requirements

Bachelors Degree in Material Science or
o Chemical, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with strong materials background.
Masters Degree preferred
Self-starter that can operate with limited supervision
Able to work with electrical design engineering as well as process engineering and bridge the gap from electrical concept to manufactureable product
Can identify problems and process weaknesses
Methodical problem solver that follows an organized and logical approach to problem solving
Hands on with a fundamental knowledge of electronics as well as electronic assembly processes.
Excellent communicator; verbal and written (documentation of process improvements, and share with design engineers around the world)
General knowledge of manufacturing

Additional Details

Design Related-
* Knowledge of circuit layout from schematic capture to finished circuit layout
* Familiarity with circuit layout tools like Mentor Graphics is a plus.
* Proficiency with 2D mechanical CAD software (AutoCAD or equivalent), but Solidworks is preferred
* DFM (Design For Manufacturability) experience with respect to electronic products

Process Related-
* Knowledge of chip and wire assembly techniques

* Knowledge of micro joining techniques

* Knowledge of plating techniques used in electronics.
* Knowledge of SMT
* Working knowledge of Pb free soldering and issues.
* Experience with traditional laminate based PCBs , as well as thick film ceramic substrates.

- Organize test plans and schedules

Requirements and Experience:

Description:

This role is as a senior member of the  systems engineering staff performing systems engineering activities on a variety of projects in the domains of Sonar Systems, Torpedo Countermeasures, and Unmanned Underwater Vehicles.  Projects range across the system life cycle from early system definition (including modeling, simulation and analysis) to post delivery support services.  Projects  are executed as multidisciplinary teams and this individual will:

  • Lead and contribute to SE efforts to develop and validate system requirements and allocations to subsystems
  • Lead and contribute to development  and validatation of interface requirements
  • Lead and contribute to the generation of system architectures including appropriate documentation utilizing various SE support tools and mechanisms including DoDAF and SysML
  • Develop and execute requirements and design verification test approaches, procedures, and reports
  • Lead and participate in system baseline development, review, and updates

Required Attributes:

  • BS in Systems, Computer, Mechanical,  or Electrical Engineering or closely related field
  • 3-5 years of relevant systems engineering experience in similar domains (i.e. DoD Embedded Systems, Sonar systems, and or closely aligned environments).
  • Demonstrated self-motivating individual who can also work as a member of a team
  • Good communications skills (both technical writing and presentations)
