Bay Search Group has been in business since 1979; we are now in our twenty-seventh year of successful recruiting for our clients. Our clients have traditionally been the large employers in New England, banks, service companies, retailers, manufacturers and hardware and software developers. These clients are familiar to all Americans but we are forbidden by our recruiting contracts with them to use their names in any advertising or promotion material without written permission. However, if a potential client is interested in knowing who some of these companies are please give us a call and we will happily discuss it.
Our relationships with our clients are discrete. Searches for key people are often conducted in almost total secrecy. This is sometimes deemed necessary to mask a company’s change in direction or to protect an important project or new product that has not been announced to the public. Sometimes it is necessary to replace a key employee without disrupting the workings of the corporate structure. This can be painful for a CEO but necessary for the survival of the entity. In these cases we meet the client off site, keep the candidates in the dark about the client for as long as possible and hold the interviews away from the corporate offices.
Hiring a key employee is always a risk for any company. There is no way to know how it will turn out. All of the interviewing, vetting, testing and hoping will not make every hire a good one. It is a risk of doing business but the risk can be lowered by considering other options:
Hire a professional interim executive to get the immediate problem dealt with.
Bring on a new executive as a contract employee and move to permanent status when both sides feel the fit has been proven.
We can help with both options.
A good recruiter becomes the resource for finding key employees for the client. In the course of the search process the recruiter often becomes the sounding board and discrete listener for a hard pressed executive who cannot vent the worries and frustrations of the job to anyone in the company. |
